Bright Cards on a Cloudy November Day

Many people are going to receive very special – and very beautiful – cards in the coming weeks, thanks to the talent and hard work of more than 35 people participating in the Foundation’s Autumn Arts, Card Making session at the Carnegie Library on a grey Saturday, November 22.
The Albany Public Library Foundation presented the workshop with the expert leadership and assistance of local artists Nancy Anderson and Cheryl French.
The Foundation provided blank cards, watercolors, shapes, stencils, markers and pens, colorful paper, special scissors, stamps and stamp pads, watercolor pencils, sequins and lots of other items useful in creating colorful cards.
The participants were both old and young, family groups, and couples and people on their own. The results were equally diverse. Winter and Christmas themes were represented as were birthdays, celebrations of New Year and one colorful card celebrating the traditional Persian New Year (March 20 or 21). The outsides of the cards were decorated and some of the insides were as well.
Next up at the Carnegie is the parlor tour (Sunday, December 14, 2 pm to 7 pm), with a fire in the fireplace (once a year!) and special readings of The Night Before Christmas, as well as special decorations on the inside of the Carnegie library.
