Beethoven was there with his Ode to Joy and Star Wars came through loud and clear with its Imperial March.  These two favorites were among the ten pieces ably performed for the large, appreciative audience.

As the group picture shows, the performers varied in age (and size) but they equaled each other in enthusiasm.

This recital was the second recital staged at the Carnegie by the Albany Youth Orchestra.  The earlier one featured stringed instruments.

In the near future, stringed instruments, keyboards, percussion instruments and more will be available at the Carnegie to be freely sampled by all ages on Saturday, July 11, from 11:00 to 12:30.  The event, sponsored jointly by the Albany Youth Orchestra and the Albany Public Library Foundation,  will give everyone an opportunity to see how they like playing a violin, a banjo, a hammered dulcimer or even a three string Russian balalaika (and more).  The Musical Instrument Petting Zoo is an opportunity not to be missed.
