S.R.O. Saturday at the Carnegie

S.R.O. Saturday at the Carnegie

It was standing room only in front of the stage in the children’s section of the Carnegie Library Saturday, August 23rd, as well over sixty people filled the room to cheer students from the Albany Youth Orchestra as they played a variety of stringed instruments.

The event was the fourth and final event of the Albany Public Library Foundation’s August Arts series.  It was put on with the assistance of the Albany Youth Orchestra which provides lessons and organizes small string orchestras in Albany for both adults and youth.

The students took the stage in small groups with each group playing a handful of different songs.  The entire performance was very well received.

At the same time, four different string instruments were made available upstairs in the library for all to handle and try.

The four August Arts events generated a large and positive response.  An effort will be made by the Foundation to continue presenting weekend events at the Carnegie during the fall and winter.
